We wish we could say we have seen Tom cruising around the Central Drakensberg, but sadly we have not! On the plus side, what a positive boost to KZN tourism and putting the Central Drakensberg on the map, so to speak. “This is an amazing opportunity, not just for the leisure tourism industry but holistically for the province and businesses in KZN,” said Brett Tungay, chairperson of FEDHASA.
Two weeks ago, Tom Cruise helicoptered into Ladysmith, before flying to the Central Drakensberg. He is in South Africa filming his latest instalment on the action film Mission Impossible. Cruise has been playing the role of agent Ethan Hunt since the first move 28 years ago.
This is not only an incredible boost to tourism, but the local communities and businesses benefit hugely too. We need highlight to the world that KZN is proving to be one of the best film destinations in Africa. With stunning mountain scenery coupled with warm hospitality this will hopefully encourage more international celebrities to consider our beautiful province as a filming destination.
The whole area has been abuzz with the presence of Tom Cruise and if you have managed to set your eyes on him cruising around the Central Drakensberg, please let us know!
