At The Nest Hotel, nestled in the heart of tranquility, a remarkable event unfolded from October 20 to 22. This special occasion was none other than the empowering Women’s Retreat, where renowned host Ilona Potgieter guided participants on a transformative 3-day journey of self-discovery. The retreat aimed to reshape how individuals perceive and experience life, instilling a newfound love for life and kickstarting a healthier journey for both body and soul. This retreat did more than offer a mere escape; it provided a fresh perspective on life itself.

Ilona Potgieter has been a teacher and trainer for over 20 years and has worked with children from grade 1 up to grade 12. She has been a guest and motivation speaker at women’s events and year end functions, as well as furthering her education as NLP Practitioner and Life Coach.

On noticing that so many children and adults are living in survival mode and in a mentality of lack, Ilona started to host workshops and retreats to equip people to change their lifestyles, mode of thinking around health, exercise and discover their purpose in life.

The Retreats  address issues around anxiety, depression, fear, anger, loss, hopelessness, low self-esteem, trust, health and purpose. Combined into the program is natural ways to be healthy  with the use of ancient techniques such as Qigong, Yoga and Tai Chi as options and also Breathwork, Grounding and Meditation.

“I believe every person on earth deserves to live a full, healthy and optimal life and my dream is to change the world by changing one person at a time to make a difference in the world.”

Unveiling the Retreat Experience:

The Women’s Retreat at The Nest Hotel encompassed a diverse range of practices and activities, all designed to enhance mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Let’s delve into the elements that made this event extraordinary.

Breathwork: Brings Together the Mind, Body + Heart

It nourishes our physical body by oxygenating our cells, promoting healing, and boosting our immune system. Simultaneously, it calms our minds, quieting the incessant chatter and allowing us to tap into a state of deep relaxation and peace.

Qigongwas developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine It involves a system of coordinated body-posture, movement and breathing using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.

Also known as earthing, grounding is a therapeutic technique that reconnects individuals with the Earth’s electrical charge

This is a self-soothing skill to use when you are having a bad day or dealing with a lot of stress, overwhelming feelings, and/or intense anxiety. Grounding is a technique that helps keep you in the present and helps reorient you to the here-and-now and to reality.

Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today, most Westerners who do yoga do it for exercise or to reduce stress

 Tai Chi

Tai chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for self-defense and health. Known for its slow, intentional movements, tai chi has practitioners worldwide and is particularly popular as a form of gentle exercise and moving meditation, with benefits to mental and physical health
