Exploring the Champagne Valley on foot is one of the most popular activities in the Central Drakensberg. From Trail Runs to Park Runs and more!
There are a number of options to choose from and you can choose to join a group run, or venture out with friends and family on a road or trail run. You are sure to find an option that suits you.
Park Runs
The Winterton Park run starts at 08:00 am every Saturday from the Waffle Hut, located on the R600 between Winterton and Thokozisa. A fun event suitable for walkers, joggers and runners. More information at https://www.parkrun.co.za/winterton/
Trail Runs
Cathkin Trails has over 30km of marked trails in the Valley suitable for mountain biking and trail running. There are a number of starting points with The Nest Hotel being one of them. Terra Firma Nature Challenge
Come explore the outdoors on our epic trails. Packed with exciting natural obstacles and stunning scenery, providing a unique outdoor experience for the whole family. The run starts from Peak View at 8am with the first one being on Sunday 20 March 2022. Enter on the day for a 5km and 10km loop.

Mac’s Café Mountain Running Group
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 06:00 am, leaving from Mac’s Café, located at Cedarwood Village Shopping Centre on the R600. They have a bunch of dedicated walkers, joggers and runners and everyone is welcome. More information at https://www.facebook.com/macscafehinds/
